The Towards Better Outcomes Consulting team brings decades of experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative and strategic community programs and initiatives that produce tangible impacts for communities. We apply gender equity, anti-oppression, and diversity and inclusion lenses to all of our work.
Esel Panlaqui has over two decades of diverse experience in the non-profit, NGO, and grassroots sectors empowering, developing, leading, managing, and implementing innovative initiatives, projects and programs that provide substantial benefits for communities.
Esel brings to all her work a passion and commitment to social justice and effecting concrete change for vulnerable and marginalized populations in Canada. Her expertise, passion and dedication earned her the Woman Abuse Council of Toronto (WomanACT) Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Advocate Award (2017).
Esel has a long track record of designing and delivering innovative, effective programs and strategic initiatives that empower and prioritize marginalized communities. Recently, Esel has supported the economic and social empowerment of women and seniors through helping to launch the SewTO Collective Community Mask-Making Project, so successful it was turned into a women-led social enterprise.
Esel has honed expertise in overseeing and managing projects, engaging stakeholders, developing strong and sustainable community partnerships, developing strong community resources and capacity, writing effective and successful grant proposals, and designing and implementing evaluation activities through her work with The Neighbourhood Organization, Peel Newcomer Strategy Group, Afghan Women’s Organization in Mississauga, Peel Multicultural Council, Canadian Women's Foundation and numerous other non-profit, NGO and grassroots organizations. Esel utilizes strong skills in academic and community-based research, policy analysis and policy development to inform her work. Her research and policy work has been published in multiple academic journals including Canadian Diversity Studies and Review of Women's Studies and she has presented her work in Toronto Ontario, Montréal Québec and Calgary Alberta.
Esel is particularly motivated to ensure projects and programs empower, and are informed by, community stakeholders who are most impacted by the issues being addressed, ensuring better outcomes for communities.
